I came to Berlin through singer Lili Danin, the saxophonist Franz "Ufo" Albinger and the trumpet player Guglielmo Bucchino. All of them were playing in my latin-group at that time, here in Southern Germany.
My first Berlin-group I've played with was the World Jazz Band "Maguma". Members of that group were the guitar player Manfred Gruber, Guglielmo Bucchino, Ufo Albinger and the bass player Bernd Dieterich.
Together with Maguma I had an eventful time and I gave many concerts. In the Tempodrom, Jazzkeller Treptow, Flöz, Schlot, Junction Bar, Wasserturm, Martha-Kirche Kreuzberg and others.
1993 we were invited, together with "Embryo" to play at the afghan-persian New-Years-Festival Naurus at Jazzhaus Freiburg.
Through Bernd Dieterich I came into Paul Esslinger's "Rhapsodic Jazz Ensemble". There I exclusively played percussion as well as on the Cd "Esprit" which was recorded live at "Die Pumpe".
In addition I was a member of Paul's "Trio Tucana" with the saxophonist Elke Fernholz.
Interesting gigs were performed e.x. at Passionskirche Kreuzberg, Kulturhaus Spandau, International Jazzfestival Kreuzberg, Festival Tiergarten and on different tours here in South Germany.
Further I played the drums with the "Ufo Horns", the "Diaphonics" and the "The World Music Orchestra".
Berlin was learning by doing!
